Wolverines Top Navy Prep in Doubleheader Opener

Nathan Cook (Riverside, SC) pitched a brilliant three-hit shutout, and then supplied much of the offense as the Wolverines took Game 1 of Sunday’s doubleheader with Navy Prep by the score of 9-0. Cook retired the sides in the second, fourth and fifth innings, and had the NP hitters off balanced with a mixture of fast balls and off-speed pitches all day long, striking out a season high twelve batters. The Wolverines got on the board with one run in the first and three in the second on key hits by Bobby Williams (Wilmot Falls, MA) and Mookie Nelson (Randolph, MA). Cook helped his own cause with a key two RBI single in the fourth then put the icing on the cake with another two RBI single in the sixth. Besides Cook, Williams, Nelson, and Brandon Dutch (Munroe, CT) were repeat hitters for the Wolverines.
