BA Tops Huskies 8-4 in Conference Showdown

It is not often that a former governor, a current governor, and a United States Senator are in attendance when the Wolverines take the field. However, all three were among the hundred or so spectators on hand on the Kents Hill campus for the dedication of Peter McKernan Field. After the thirty-minute ceremony, the Wolverines wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as Nathan Cook’s (Riverside, SC) booming ground rule double plated Monty Marocco (Winchester, MA) with the first run. BA scored three more times in the next inning as Myles Brown (Cope, SC) delivered a solid two RBI single to push the lead to 3-1 and then scored himself on a sacrifice fly by Sean Gavin (Keene, NH). Brown figured in the next three runs as his plated two more runners with a double in the second and a triple in the seventh, then scored the eighth run in the same inning. BA pitcher Bobby Williams (Wilmot Falls, MA) started slowly but got stronger as the game went along, giving up just four hits while setting down a dozen on strikes for a complete game win. The victory assures the Wolverines of at least a share of the regular season conference title. BA takes their 13-4 record back home to face a very tough Navy Prep nine in a Sunday doubleheader beginning at noon.
