BA Tops Tilton, Sets Win Record
The BA Wolverines scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to overcome a one run deficit to beat a fine Tilton School team by the score of 4-3 in their final home game of the season. After the teams traded one run in the first inning, BA added one in the second as Brian Murray (Burlington, MA) lead off with a double. Anthony Jimenez (Agawam, MA) moved Murray to third on a nice sacrifice bunt, and Murray later scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly by Mike Murphy (Lancaster, MA). Tilton came back to tie with one run in the third and then took the lead, 3-2, in the fifth. Nathan Cook (Riverside, SC) doubled to lead off the bottom of the sixth and promptly scored on Bobby William’s (Wilmot Falls, MA) single to left. Williams then scored the winning run when Pete Creamer (Groveland, MA) reached on an infield error. Williams went the distance on the mound for the Wolverines, striking out ten batters while scattering just three hits. The win sets a new school record for most victories in a season at seventeen, breaking the old record set just last year. The 2009 season comes to an end tomorrow as the Wolverines travel down 302 to St. Joseph’s College for a 4:00 contest.
