Wolverines Make Quick Work of Winchendon
BA pitcher Lane Garvey (Marlborough, MA) limited the Winchendon School to just one hit and no runs while striking out five en route to his first win of the season. The Wolverine offense gave him plenty of support, feasting off of two Winchendon pitchers for twenty hits - including three home runs and five doubles - that produced twenty-eight runs. Joining the list of multiple hitters included Sean Gavin (Keene, NH), Brandon Dutch (Monroe, CT), Nathan Cook (Riverside, NH), Pete Creamer (Groveland, MA) and Brian Murray (Burlington, MA). The defensive gem of the day came in the fourth inning as Murray caught a long fly ball in right field and then gunned down a Winchendon player who has tagged third and attempted to score his team’s only run. The victory climaxes a successful week for the Wolverines, winning five out six games played in as many days. Standing at 9-4, the Wolverines face an intense schedule this week with eight games, including a Sunday doubleheader with Navy Prep. However, the main focus will be tomorrow’s 4:00 home game against MAISAD opponent, the Kents Hill School. A win will guarantee the Wolverines at least a share of the conference title.
