Wolverines Top Monks, 5-2

The BA Wolverines combined good pitching, solid defense, and timely hitting to win their eighth game of the season, 5-2, over the Monks of St. Joseph’s College. Winning pitcher Sean Mullaney (Newton, MA) went five innings, giving up a pair of hits and a pair of runs, while stiking out four. Zach Walker (Hingham, MA) was again effective in relief, pitching two scoreless frames while striking out three. The Wolverines score twice in the third and twice in the fifth and added an insurance run in the sixth. St. Joeseph’s responded with single runs in the fourth and fifth. The Wolverines managed only four hits but took advantage of some shaky Monk’s pitching, as they scored on twice on wild pitches. The BA defense helped the cause as they turned two nifty double plays. The win is the third straight in as many days over college opponents and the fourth win in five games this week. The last long road trip of the season comes at the midpoint of the schedule as the Wolverines travel to the Winchendon School on Saturday for a 1:30 contest.
