Walker Shines in Wolverine Win
Zach Walker (Hingham, MA) pitched four-plus masterful innings in relief, stopping the Westbrook High School offense cold as the Wolverines came from behind to win this one going away by a score of 10-6. Walker gave up just three hits and allowed only one walk in relief of Sean Mullaney (Newton, MA) who ran into control problems in the third. Ahead 1-0, the Wolverines added three more in the third inning as Nathan Cook (Riverside, NC) drove a 0-1 fastball high and deep over the left field fence with two runners aboard. But Westbrook came storming back to score five in the bottom of the same inning to go ahead 5-4. The Wolverines responded with two in the fourth to regain the lead 6-5 and then put the game out of reach with three more runs in the sixth and one more in the seventh. The BA offense was led by Cook who had two more hits in addition to his round tripper and also had a key sacrifice fly that scored Monte Marrocco (Winchester, MA) in the critical fourth inning. Now 11-4, Wolverines get ready to host District II opponent New Hampton School this Friday at 4:00.
