Wolverines win NECBA Championship!

This last week was very busy and very important for the Wolverine Baseball team. For the Play-offs, they played four hard fought games, all of them away. The first game found them traveling to St. Joseph's College to play the University of New England. It was a great game for CJ Suarez who connected on a three run home run to bring the final score to 12-2 Wolverines. This would leave them in the 3rd seat in the NECBA division.

The next game was played against Harvard. Anthony Graziano pitched an amazing game and Brendan Skidmore played great with one home run. The Wolverines won 9-2 meaning they would have to beat their next two opponents to win.

After playing Harvard, the Bridgton Academy Baseball team played Holy Cross and was trailing 2-6 in the sixth inning. With an outstanding rally by all including clutch hitting by Sean Getman and superb pitching by Jake Unwin, the Wolverines came back and took the win 10-7.




For the championship game the Bridgton Academy Wolverines played the Boston University Terriers. The Wolverines came out strong gaining five runs in the first inning. With great sportsmanship from everyone and excellent catching by Nathan Stewart the Wolverine baseball team won the championship game 10-1.

Wolverines play Double Header vs. Dartmouth

Saturday September 13th, Bridgton Academy baseball traveled to Dartmouth College to play a double header. The first game went well with Jake Unwin and Anthony Graziano pitching. Brett Barbati had two hits and three RBIs. BA took the Win 6-0.

The second game was fought hard with Garrett Leahy, Alex Knight, and Shamus Landers on the mound. Sean Getman had two hits, Casey Stead had an RBI. BA lost 3-1.

Wolverines take on UNH


Friday September 12th, the Wolverine baseball team traveled to UNH to play a frigidly cold game that night. Due to the cold it was a hard fought game by both teams but UNH got the win. Jake Murray And Mike Haag did great on the mound and Evan Brown, Brendan Skidmore and Casey Stead all had two hits each. Brett Barbati had two RBIs. Final Score 8-7 UNH.

Bridgton Takes Double Header Against UVM

The Wolverines traveled to Vermont to take on UVM's club baseball team for a Sunday double header at Centennial Field in Burlington. Bridgton took the first game 5-2 with Michael Haag (Ossining, NY) and Jake Unwin (Niantic, CT) combining for the win from the mound and Sean Getman (Oneonta, NY) getting it done at the plate with three hits and three RBI's.

In the second game Jake Murray (Middletown, RI)and Anthony Graziano (Wilton, NH) tossed a three hitter for a 3-2 win. At the plate Zach Fuller (Danby, VT), Sam Stauble (Harrison, ME) and Evan Brown (Ashburnham, MA) each had an RBI and Quinn Moynihan (Worcester, MA) had two hits.

The Wolverines next take the field on Wednesday, October 10th against Eastern Maine Community College here at home.

Wolverines play CMCC


On September 12th, Wolverine Baseball played a great game against the CMCC Mustangs with Shamus Landers and Jake Unwin on the mound. In the seventh inning Bridgton Academy was down 9-4, but Evan Brown with two hits and four RBI’s, and Quinn Moynihan with four hits and one RBI, led the team to rally and score seven runs that inning. The Wolverine’s came back to win the game 11-9 leaving them with a perfect 4-0 record.

Wolverines beat CMCC Mustangs 11 - 9



WEDNESDAY SEPT. 12 - Shamus Landers started the game, and went 5 solid innings, giving up four earned runs on five hits after some hard luck in the field.  Jake Unwin came in relief for two innings striking out four and keeping the game within reach.  Quinn Moynihan was 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and four runs scored.  Evan Brown also added two hits and four RBI’s. Cejay Suarez and Alex Benson added three hits.  The Mustangs were down 7-1 at one point before the offense began to chip away bringing the score to 7-5 before some careless mistakes led to a four run deficit heading into the final inning.  However, after loading the bases with the help of Casey Stead and Brett Barbati, Evan Brown scored a clutch two out hit that broke the inning open and tied the game.  Jake Unwin then shut the door in the final frame earning the win and bringing the team to a perfect 4-0 record.

Cam Charette Commits to Flagler College


Cam Charette (Wenham, MA) has recently committed to Flagler College where he will join the Saint’s baseball team in the fall.


When asked what it was about Flagler, Charette commented, “I like the location, plus there is a great baseball team.  I felt like it was the right fit when I visited, and I am really happy with my choice.”

Coach Izaryk added, "Cam has found a good fit at Flagler.  He is a pitcher who can compete there right away, and with the development he has realized this year in the classroom and on the field, Cam is set up to have a great career at Flagler."

Baseball Downs Gould

The baseball team added another win to their record as they downed Gould Academy 13-3.  While Gould initially took a 3-1 lead in the first inning, Bridgton rallied back to tie up the game in the fourth.  Bridgton then earned nine runs in the fifth to secure the lead, which they extended by one in the sixth for the 13-3 win. 

Zach Littman (Abington, MA) went three for four in the ay with a double and two RBI.  Brian Nessing (Manchester, CT) also had a big day at the plate going two for two with a double and an RBI.  Ryan Iasiello (Westborough, MA) rounded out the the effort at the plate going two for two with a double and two RBI.

Ammad Khan (New Britain, CT) threw the complete game striking out 9 and only allowing three hits and three runs.  Additionally, Khan only walked two batters in the game.

Up next, the team will face Kent's Hill with a split squad at home this Friday at 4:00 P.M.

Bridgton Dominates SMCC at Home

The baseball team took their home field against Southern Maine Community College, and dominated from the get to.  Starting with two runs in the second inning, Bridgton continued to increase the score through the final inning.

Danny Wynne (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ) led the team at the plate going two for two with two home runs. 

Walker O'Connor (Bedford, MA) threw six solid innings, striking out seven and only allowing one run.  Ammad Kahn (New Britain, CT) closed the game, keeping SMCC to only one run for the game.

Baseball Earns 16-5 Win Over Kents Hill

BA Baseball downed Kent's Hill by a final of 16-5 in Readfield, ME.  Bridgton took an initial 3-1 lead in the first.  Kents Hill rallied back in the third, scoring three unanswered runs to take a 4-3 lead.  However, Bridgton came back strong in the fourth and fifth innings with 13 combined runs to secure the 16-5 win.

The offense was highlighted by home runs from Stephen Trychon (Wachusett, MA) and Ryan Iasiello (Westborough, MA).  Caulin Rogers (Gloucster, MA) went four for four with two doubles and two RBI.

George Seigel (Concord, NH) started on the mound for the Wolverines throwing just under three innings.  Connor Steckel (Winchester, MA) and Ammad Kahn (New Britain, CT) combined to pitch the last two innings, stopping Kents Hill from a comeback.

Bridgton Goes 1-1 with Split Squad

BA Baseball earned a split in their doubleheader, split squad action on Wednesday. Lost 7-4 at SNHU JV, while taking a 9-7 victory over Phillips-Exeter, highlighted by a Connor Steckel (Winchester, MA/Saint Michael's College) grand slam to break a 5-5 tie in the 6th.

Bridgton Suffers Loss to Belmont Hill

Belmont Hill was able to put an end to Bridgton Academy's eight game win streak.  Belmont Hill came out strong in the first inning, scoring four runs to take the lead.  Bridgton was able to score one in the late innings, but Belmont Hill increased their lead to secure an 8-1 win over Bridgton Academy.

Drew Carter (Newburyport, MA) had a strong day at the plate going two for three with two singles.  Steve Trychon (Sterling, MA) hit a single to tally the only RBI of the game.  Ryan Iasiello (Westborough, MA) found himself in scoring position when Trychon stepped up the the plate, and scored the Wolverines lone run of the day.

Walker O'Connor (Bedford, MA) started on the mound for the Wolverines and threw the first five innings of the game.  He recorded six strikeouts, and only allowed one walk.  Zach Littman (Abington, MA) closed the game throwing the final inning striking out one batter and only allowing two hits.

Up next, the team will travel to Southern New Hampshire University on Wednesday to play at 4:00 P.M.

Bridgton Blanks Hebron Academy

The Baseball team took their home field against Hebron Academy and secured a 14-0 win in just five innings. Bridgton took a strong lead in the first inning with 8 runs scored, and held onto it for the remainder of the game.

Caulin Rogers (Gloucester, MA) led the team going three for three with both a triple and a homerun, as well as three RBIs and three runs scored. Zach Littman (Abington, MA) also had a strong day going two for two with an RBI and two runs scored. Ethan Hanson (South Burlington, VT) added two triples to the game and two runs. Joe Sanfilipo (Middletown, RI) added a long double in the game.

On the mound, Cam Charette (Wenham, MA) threw the complete five innings. In the game, Charette only allowed one hit, with no runs scored, and struck out 12 batters.

Up next, the team will travel to the Belmont Hill School to play on Friday at 4:00 P.M.

New Addition to the Batting Cages

Things are looking good up on the baseball field. New turf was installed in the batting cages this week!

Baseball Tallies Another Win

The baseball team traveled to Braintree, MA this week to play Thayer Academy and came away with a 8-6 win. Bridgton took the lead early in the game scoring two runs in both the first and second innings. They increased their lead to 7-1 by the end of the 6th inning. However, Thayer attempted a comeback with five runs in the seventh inning, but Bridgton held them off to secure the win.

Zach Littman (Abington, MA) had a good day at the plate going three for three with two doubles, an RBI, and two runs scored. Ryan Iasiello (Westborough, MA) went two for two, with two doubles and two RBIs.

Eoin McAvinchey (Andover, MA) started on the mound for Bridgton earning the win. McAvinchey pitched six innings allowing only three hits and three runs scored while striking out six. George Seigel (Concord, NH) and Littman came in to throw the last inning holding Thayer back from tying the game and forcing extra innings.

Up next, the baseball team will play Hebron Academy at home on Wednesday at 3:00 P.M.

Bridgton Sweeps EMCC

Bridgton Academy hosted Eastern Maine Community College for a double header and came out with two big wins. In the first game, Bridgton downed EMCC 18-0. They then dominated the second game with a 14-2 win.

In the first game, Bridgton started dominating early in the game and remained strong throughout in the 18-0 shutout.

Paul Iasiello (Westborough, MA) had a strong day at the plate with a homerun, five RBIs, and two runs scored. Stevie Russel (Nassau, Bahamas) was also a key player going three for three with two RBIs, and two runs scored.

Ammad Kahn (New Britian, CT) earned the win on the mound throwing a complete five innings and only letting up one hit.

In the second game, Bridgton initially took a 5-0 lead in the first inning. EMCC tallied two runs in the seccond inning, but Bridgton answered back with 9 runs in the third to secure the 14-2 win.

Ryan Slattery (Smithfield, RI) had a good day at the plate going three for three with a double and two RBIs. Axel Riviere (Rockaway Beach, NY) also tallied a run and two RBIs in the win. Colin Clancy (Chelmsford, MA) went two for two with two runs scored and two RBIs.

On the mound, George Seigel (Concord, NH) started the game and threw just under three innings allowing no hits and striking out five. Connor Steckle (Winchester, MA) finished out the game with no runs scored and three strikeouts.

Up next, the baseball team will travel to Thayer Academy on Tuesday to play at 4:00 P.M.

Bridgton Tallied 13-5 Win Over BB&N

The baseball team was on the road as they took on Buckingham Browne and Nichols in what Coach Izaryk commented was "The best game of the year." Bridgton was first to score in the second inning as they took a strong 5-0 lead. At the end of the thrid period, Bridgton held onto a 7-4 lead. For the rest of the game, Bridgton dominated ending in a 13-5 win for the Wolverines.

Steve Trychon (Sterling, MA) led the team at the plate going three for three with a triple. Paul Iasiello (Westborough, MA) added a homerun. Drew Carter (Newburyport, MA) also had a strong game with a double and two RBIs.

Bridgton Downs SMCC

The baseball team traveled to Southern Maine Community College and captured a 13-3 win. At the end of the first inning, Bridgton only held a slight 2-1 lead. In the fifth inning, Bridgton took control of the game advancing their lead to 8-3 and held it for the remainder of the game.

Zach Littman (Abington, MA) lead the effort at the plate with three hits in the game, three RBIs, and four runs scored. Nick Swim (St. Albans, VT) was also strong for Bridgton with two hits and four RBIs.

Cam Charette (Wenham, MA) started on the mound throwing for two innings with five strikeouts and only allowing one hit, and earned the win. George Seigel (Concord, NH), Ammad Kahn (South Windsor, CT), and Littman finished out the game for Bridgton Academy in the 13-3 win.

Bridgton Tallies Another Win

This weekend the baseball team traveled to play Phillips Exeter Academy and returned home with a 2-0 win. Bridgton earned runs in the first and second innings, and the game remained scoreless from there. Zach Littman (Abington, MA) was strong at the plate with a double and the first run scored to take the lead. In the second inning, Ryan Iasiello (Westborough, MA) reached third on a long triple to right field. Dustin Howe (Keene, NH) secured the win with an RBI single.

Eoin McAvinchey (Andover, MA) was solid on mound for Bridgton throwing five innings for three strikeouts, three hits, and allowing no runs. Cam Charette (Wenham, MA) and Walker O'Connor (Bedford, MA) each threw an inning to close the game with no runs scored in the 2-0 win over Phillip Andover.

Up next, the Wolverines will travel to Southern Maine Community College to play at 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday.

Colin Clancy Commits to Assumption College












Colin Clancy (Chelmsford, MA) has recently committed to Assumption College where he will join the Greyhound’s baseball team in the fall.


When asked about his decision, Clancy commented, “It has always been my dream to play college baseball. Assumption is close to home and familiar to me, plus I get to fulfill my dream of playing baseball at the college level. Some of my family members have attended in the past, so it just seemed like the right choice.”


Coach Izaryk added, "Colin has found a great fit at Assumption. He had a great visit to campus with Coach Reidy, and Assumption is getting a good one in Colin. He is a hard-nosed player who has consistently improved here at BA, I look forward to him moving on to play college ball. He adds to our presence in the NE-10, and I am excited for him."

Wolverines Dominate Navy Prep 18-3

The baseball team traveled to Newport, RI this past weekend to face Navy Prep. Bridgton took the lead in the early innings to secure a commanding 18-3 win.

Walker O’Connor (Bedford, MA) started on the mound for the Wolverines throwing for five solid innings and earning the win. O’Connor recorded nine strikeouts, only allowed two hits, and no runs scored.

Matt Pagano (Cranston, RI) led the effort at the plate with both a triple and a homerun. Brian Nessing (Manchester, CT) had a big double late in the game and a run scored to increase the Wolverines lead. Zach Littman (Abington, MA) also had a strong performance with two hits and two RBIs. Caulin Rogers (Gloucester, MA) also helped in the scoring effort as he tallied three RBIs in the game.

Up next, the team is on the road as they take on Phillips Andover Saturday at 4:00 P.M.

Spring Ball is Underway!

The baseball team hit the road this weekend for their first competition of the spring season. They started out with a double header against Massasoit Community College. In the first game, the Wolverines came out strong with a 4-3 win. However, in game two Massasoit came back for a strong 6-5 win. The next day, Bridgton traveled to Eastern Connecticut State where they fell 5-4.


Cam Charette (Wenham, MA) started on the mound in game one and face 19 batters in four innings pitched. Charette only gave up one hit allowing one run to score, and recorded four strikeouts. Paul Iasiello (Westborough, MA) threw two innings, before Zach Littman (Abington, MA) came in for the save in the 7th inning with two strikeouts and only one hit allowed.


Littman was also strong at the plate with four at bats, two hits, a run scored, and an RBI. Nick Swim (St. Albans, VT) and Iasiello each had a double in the game with an RBI.


In the second game against Massasoit Community College, Bridgton held the lead for the majority of the game. It was not until the 6th inning when Massasoit was able to score 4 runs to take the small 6-5 lead that would end the game.


Walker O’Connor (Bedford, MA) started on the mound for the Wolverines, and threw for five innings facing 22 batters. O’Connor tallied three strikeouts while allowing only two runs, and three hits. Connor Steckel (Winchester, MA) came in for the last inning but was not able to secure the win for the Wolverines.


Swim led the team at the plate going three for three with two runs scored and an RBI. Danny Wynne (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ) also tallied two hits, one of which was a homerun, and an RBI.


On Sunday, the team took the field against Eastern Connecticut State, and dropped another close game 5-4. Once again, Bridgton took an early lead scoring their four runs in the first three innings. It wasn’t until the 9th inning that Eastern Connecticut was able to tie things up and force the game into extra innings. Bridgton held on into the 11th, but Eastern Connecticut pulled ahead and secured the 5-4 win.


George Seigle (Concord, NH) had a solid start to the game only letting up two hits resulting in three runs scored. Ammad Khan (New Britain, CT) came into the game and three close to five innings recording five strikeouts, only allowed one run to score, and didn’t walk a single batter. Iasiello came in to face the last four batters and close out the game for Bridgton Academy.


Matt Pagano (Cranston, RI) had a solid day at the plate with three hits, including two singles and a triple, and a run scored. Wynne had another strong game with two hits, an RBI, and a run scored.


Up next, the Wolverines will travel to Newport, RI on April, 1st to play Navy Prep at 2:00 P.M.

Tanner Chase '11 Named Rookie of the Week

Congratulations to Tanner Chase '11 (York, ME) who was named Little East Conference Rookie of the Week at Keene State College.

Chase recorded a hit in five of his six appearances to post a .333 batting average (8-for-24) with two runs scored and nine runs batted in this past week for Keene State College. The freshman from York, Maine registered an extra-base hit against Becker and Roger Williams. Chase went 2-for-6 from the plate against Becker with a week-high four RBI. He also went 3-for-5 with three RBI against Endicott.

Matt Pagano Commits to Marist College











Matt Pagano (Cranston, RI) has recently committed to Marist College where he will join the Red Fox’s baseball team in the fall.


When asked about his decision, Pagano commented, “Marist has everything I am looking for in a college. It’s a nice campus with impressive academic buildings, a great business program where I can study accounting, and on top of it all I can play baseball."


Coach Izaryk supports Pagano’s decision adding, “Matt had a few different offers to play college baseball, and by choosing Marist, he is joining a program with a rich tradition of winning in the highly competitive MAAC conference. Matt is a player with some tremendous raw tools that project well at the Division I level. I think Marist will be very happy with Matt Pagano in their program."

BA Returns From Spring Break

With the team back on campus after spring break, they are gearing up for a strong spring season which opens Saturday, March 24th at Massasoit Community College. Dustin Howe Commits to Keene State















Dustin Howe (Keene, NH) has committed to Keene State for the upcoming year where he will join a number of Bridgton Academy alumni as a member of the Owl’s baseball team.


When asked what it was about Keene State, Howe commented, “It has always been my dream to attend Keene State and play for my father. After my year at Bridgton, that dream is coming true. On top of playing baseball for my dad, I love the layout of the campus and the facilities.


Coach Izaryk added, "Dustin is a player that any program would be fortunate to have. He is the ultimate team guy, a player who truly unites the roster. Dustin has made great strides here at Bridgton Academy, and his choice to play for his father at Keene State is one that he is excited about. Dustin has invested a tremendous amount of time in improving himself, both on the field and in the classroom, and I am fully confident he will do the same at Keene State."

School Is Back In Session!

Following a relaxing winter break, the students are back on campus and school is in full swing. The baseball team is hitting the books and the gym to prepare for the second semester and their spring season. And of course, Mother Nature welcomed everyone back with a nice snow storm, which will make for some great after school skiing!
