Baseball Put Up A Good Fight in NECBA Playoffs

The baseball team traveled to Lynn, Massachusetts for a playoff NECBA game. Bridgton took on Babson College and won 5-2 to advance to the next round. George Seigel (Concord, NH) threw five strong innings, allowing no runs on just one hit. Cam Charette (Wenham, MA) got the win, and Walker O'Connor (Bedford, MA) earned the save. Danny Wynne (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ) had a two RBI double, and Brendan McDonough (Chelmsford, MA) added the game winning RBI. Caulin Rogers (Gloucester, MA) scored the winning run, after pinch running, stealing 2nd base and scoring from 2nd.

The Wolverines then took on Fairfield University in the semi final round of the NECBA tournament and played the closest game of the season, extending play late into 14 innings. After a tough battle, Fairfield ultimately took an 8-7 win.

Eoin McAvinchey (Andover, MA) started the game for Bridgton throwing seven innings and giving up only one earned run. Cam Charette (Wenham, MA) came in at relief, throwing six innings and giving up only one earned run. Danny Wynne (Hasbrouck Heights, NY) and Stephen Trychon (Sterling, MA) each added two run homeruns in the fourth inning to put Bridgton on the scoreboard. Nick Swim (St. Albans, VT) had an outstanding defensive game, highlighted by a double play where he tagged out a runner at third base and threw across to first to complete the play. Ammad Khan (South Windsor, CT) threw the fourteenth inning, striking out two before a double and an error ended the game.
